Cameron Menzies beats Gian van Veen 8-4 to win Players Championship 29 in Den Bosch

Cameron Menzies defeated Gian van Veen to claim the Players Championship 29 title in Den Bosch on 22 September 2026. He raced into a 5-0 lead and went on to prevail 8-4 in the final.

Menzies is ranked 26th and had considered quitting darts earlier this year after damaging his hand by angrily punching a drinks table following a first-round exit at the World Championship. In July he won Players Championship 23 in Leicester and later that month beat world number two Luke Humphries in the first round of the World Matchplay before falling ill in his next match.

Van Veen was the home favourite in Den Bosch and is third in the PDC rankings. Menzies overcame that challenge to secure the title in the final.

"To go and win another ProTour is awesome. I'm so happy," said Menzies. "This is my fifth year on the tour and I've won four ProTours. That's not bad I suppose." "My aim is to make a good life for myself. That's the aim that I think is achievable, but winning a major and having a good run at the World Championship would be amazing," he added. "I've put more effort in this year than I ever have because I nearly lost it all and I'm grateful to be in this position."

En route to the final in Den Bosch, he got past Kevin Doets, Jeffrey de Graaf, Wessel Nijman, Benjamin Pratnemer, Jim Long and Nick Kenny.

The victory in Den Bosch was Menzies' second tournament win of the year.

Menzies made his World Cup debut for Scotland earlier this year.
